Okay, so today I decided to dive into something that’s been bugging me for a while: What do the numbers 1 through 10 really mean? I mean, we use them every day, but I wanted to go deeper. So, I started this little project.
The Experiment Begins
First, I grabbed a notebook and pen. Nothing fancy, just something to jot down my thoughts. Then, I decided to go outside. I figured a change of scenery might help me think. I walked around my neighborhood, just looking at stuff and thinking about numbers.

Number by Number
- 1 (One): This felt like the easiest. It’s about being alone, starting something, being independent. I saw a single bird flying overhead and thought, “Yep, that’s one.”
- 2 (Two): Immediately, I thought of pairs. My shoes, my hands, the two squirrels chasing each other in a tree. Two is about connection and partnership.
- 3 (Three): It is a solid and stable number, a foundation upon which more complex structures can be built.
- 4 (Four): I noticed the four wheels on a car, the four legs of a dog. Four felt stable and grounded.
- 5 (Five): Five reminded me of my hand – five fingers. It felt like a human number, a number about action and senses.
- 6 (Six): This one was trickier. Then I remembered a honeycomb pattern I’d seen once. Six felt like harmony and balance.
- 7 (Seven): Seven seemed a bit mysterious. I thought about the seven days of the week, and how it feels like a complete cycle.
- 8 (Eight): I made the shape with my fingers and turn around, it is infinite, I imagined an infinity symbol. Eight felt like cycles, and maybe even fate.
- 9 (Nine): Nine felt like almost there, almost complete. Like the end of a chapter.
- 10 (Ten): And finally, ten! I looked at my two hands again. Ten felt like completion, a new beginning, and wholeness.
Wrapping Up
After walking and thinking for a couple of hours, I came back inside. I reviewed my notes and realized this wasn’t about finding some definitive meaning for each number. It was more about how I connected with them, what they made me think about. It was a surprisingly fun and insightful little exercise!
It may seems not too much, but it is really help me a lot. So, I share it to you. I think it is also a meaningful thing to do today!
