Okay, so I’ve been seeing these “geek bar astrology signs” things popping up all over my feeds, and I finally caved. I decided to give it a whirl and see if I could make one myself. It seemed like a fun little project, and honestly, I was pretty curious.
First, I dug around online to see what others were doing. I checked out some examples and got a feel for the general aesthetic. Most of them had this cool, retro-futuristic vibe, you know? Lots of neon colors and pixelated graphics.

Then, I fired up my trusty old image editor. Nothing fancy, just something I’m comfortable with. I started by creating a simple background. I went with a dark, spacey kind of look – lots of deep blues and purples. I figured that would be a good starting point.
Figuring Out the Icons
- I needed to find some icons to represent the different zodiac signs. I searched for “pixel art zodiac icons” and found a bunch of free-to-use options. Perfect!
- I downloaded the ones I liked and imported them into my project.
- I played around with the sizing and placement until I was happy with how they looked.
Next up, I added some text. I chose a bold, blocky font that felt appropriately “geeky.” I typed out the names of each zodiac sign and positioned them next to their corresponding icons.
Adding Some Flair
To make it a little more interesting, I decided to add some extra details. I drew some simple lines and shapes to connect the icons and give it a bit of a circuit board feel. Then I added a few glowing effects here and there to give it that neon vibe I was going for.
After a bit of tweaking and adjusting, I was finally done! It’s not perfect, but I’m pretty pleased with how it turned out. It was a fun little experiment, and I learned a few new things along the way. Maybe I’ll try making some more of these in the future. Who knows!
