Okay, so I saw this crossword clue today, “astronomy not astrology,” and I was like, “Oh, I know this!” But then my brain totally blanked. I stared at it for a good minute, racking my brain for any astronomy terms I could remember.
First, I tried to remember. I even muttered to myself, “Come on, think of planets, stars, anything!” Nothing. Absolutely nothing. It was like my mind had been wiped clean of all things space-related.

Then, I started going through the alphabet, trying to see if any letter sparked a memory. “A… Andromeda? No, that’s a galaxy. B… Black hole? Too long.” It was a total mess.
Finally I think a word.I put that into the NYT crossword, and boom, it fit! I felt like such a genius, even though it was probably a super obvious answer to everyone else.
It just goes to show, even the things you think you know can totally escape you when you’re put on the spot. Crosswords, man, they’ll get you every time!
