Okay, so I’ve been wanting to make a Chinese zodiac chart for a while now, mostly because I think they’re pretty cool and also I kept forgetting which animal was for which year. I figured a printable version would be super handy, so here’s how I went about it.
Finding the Info
First things first, I needed to get all the animals and years straight.

I needed to know the recent years and their corresponding zodiac animals. I didn’t want some ancient chart, I wanted something relevant!
Making the Chart
I decided to make it from scratch. I’m no artist, so I kept the design super simple:
- Opened a new document. I used just a regular document editor.
- Made a table. I figured a table would be the easiest way to organize everything. I went with two columns: one for the year and one for the animal.
- Filled it in. I put the recent years, starting with the year I was born and working up to the current year.
- Added the animals.I want to find images of the animals, and then I inserted the image into the table.
Making it Look Decent
The table was functional, but it was kinda boring. So I did a few things to spruce it up:
- Made the text bigger.
- Used colors I chose different colors for the table cells.
Printing It Out
Finally, I printed it out! I just used regular paper, but you could totally use thicker paper or even laminate it to make it last longer.
And that’s it! Now I have a handy-dandy Chinese zodiac chart that I can hang up and never forget which animal represents which year. Plus, it was a fun little project. If you’re looking for a quick and easy way to make your own, I definitely recommend this method. It’s super customizable, and you don’t need to be a design expert to make something that looks pretty good.
