Okay, so I kept seeing the number 82 everywhere. On license plates, receipts, clocks – you name it. It was starting to feel a little weird, like the universe was trying to tell me something. So, I decided to do a little experiment. I figured, why not treat it like a sign and see what happens?
My “82” Experiment
First, I jotted down every time I saw the number 82. I carried a tiny notebook and pen with me everywhere. Seriously, everywhere.

- Day 1: Saw it 5 times. Mostly on addresses and once on a bus number. Nothing crazy.
- Day 2: 8 times! This is where it got interesting. I saw it on a price tag for something I was actually thinking of buying.
- Day 3: Only 3 times, but one was on a billboard for a workshop about “following your intuition.” Okay, universe, I see you.
I decided to not just record the number, but also to pay attention to what I was doing or thinking about right before I saw it. Was I stressed? Excited? Daydreaming about pizza? (That happened more than once, not gonna lie.)
Then, I tried to be more… receptive, I guess. If I saw 82 on a flyer for a yoga class, I actually considered going, even though I’m about as flexible as a brick. (Spoiler alert: I did not go. Baby steps, people.)
The biggest thing I noticed was that by actively looking for 82, I was also more aware of my surroundings and my own thoughts. It was like a weird form of mindfulness. I was paying attention to the little things.
For example, one day I saw 82 on a book cover in a shop window. I was feeling kinda down that day, and the book was about overcoming creative blocks. I actually went inside and bought the book. And you know what? It actually helped!
After a week of this, I can’t say I had some huge epiphany or that my life magically transformed. But I did feel more connected to, well, everything. It’s like I opened a little door to noticing the coincidences and opportunities around me.
So, my 82 experiment? It wasn’t about the number itself, but about using it as a reminder to pay attention. And that’s something I’m definitely going to keep doing, even if the number 82 fades away and is replaced by, I don’t know, 47 or something.
