So, today I just wanted to share a little experiment I did with something called “post-colonial astrology.” I’d heard about it a few times, and it sounded interesting, so I thought, why not give it a shot?
First, I started by digging around to see what this whole post-colonial astrology thing was all about. Turns out, it’s a way of looking at astrology that tries to move away from the traditional Western approach, which some folks say is tied up with colonialism. This new way seemed like it might be a fresh take, so I was game.

I read a bunch of articles and watched some videos. Then, I came across this writer, Alice Sparkly Kat, who seems to be a big deal in this area. They’ve got this cool way of explaining how astrology can be seen as a kind of “magical language” and how it’s connected to political power. That really got me thinking, you know?
Diving Deeper
- I decided to focus on my own birth chart.
- Instead of just looking at the usual stuff like Sun signs and Moon signs, I tried to understand the cultural and historical background of each planet and sign.
- It was like, peeling back the layers of an onion.
It was a bit tricky at first, but I started to see patterns that I hadn’t noticed before. For example, I began to think about how certain planetary placements might be interpreted differently in different cultures. And how my own cultural background might be influencing the way I understand my chart.
Then I did something a little out there. I compared my birth chart with the charts of some historical figures from different parts of the world. I wanted to see if there were any common threads or interesting differences.
This whole process, it wasn’t just about predicting the future or figuring out my personality. It was more about understanding the bigger picture, how astrology has been used and interpreted throughout history, and how it can reflect power dynamics and cultural differences.
Honestly, the more I dug into it, the more fascinated I became. It’s like, astrology isn’t just this static thing. It’s always evolving and being reinterpreted. And this post-colonial approach, it really opens up a whole new way of looking at it.
I’m still just scratching the surface, but I’m definitely going to keep exploring this. It feels like I’ve stumbled onto something really meaningful, and I’m excited to see where it takes me.

Anyway, I just wanted to share this little adventure with you all. Maybe it’ll inspire some of you to check out post-colonial astrology for yourselves. It’s pretty mind-blowing stuff!
