Okay, so I’ve been wanting to make a Chinese zodiac calendar, you know, the one with the animals for each year. I finally got around to doing it, and let me tell you, it was a bit of a learning curve, but super fun!
Getting Started
First, I needed to figure out the order of the animals. I mean, I knew there was a rat, an ox, a tiger… but I couldn’t remember the exact sequence. So, I did what anyone would do – I Googled it!

I found the listing of zodiac animals in order.
- Rat
- Ox
- Tiger
- Rabbit
- Dragon
- Snake
- Horse
- Goat
- Monkey
- Rooster
- Dog
- Pig
Putting It Together
Then I set out to create the structure of the calendar,I wanted to display it by year.I decided to hardcode, cause I wanted to learn by doing, so don’t judge me. I mapping each year to its corresponding animal, manually construct the whole thing.
It took a bit of time, and honestly, my fingers got a little tired from all that typing. I did it, I went back, double-checked all the years and animals, made sure I didn’t mess anything up.
The Final Result
And… ta-da! I had my very own Chinese zodiac calendar. It might not be the fanciest thing in the world, but I made it myself, and that’s what matters. It’s all there, year by year, matched up with the right animal. I was even able to customize the look, so that was cool.
It’s all satisfying to see it finally working. Plus, I learned a lot along the way. Not bad for a little DIY project, right?
