Okay, so I recently decided to check out this thing called “Family Constellations.” To be honest, I was feeling stuck in some areas of my life, and I heard this could help uncover some hidden family patterns that might be holding me back. So, I thought, “Why not give it a try?”
First, I started by looking for information online. There are many different courses and workshops, so I read some articles and watched some introductory videos to get a basic understanding. I found a highly-rated online course and decided to go for it. Let me tell you, it was a bit pricey, but I figured it was an investment in myself.

I signed up for the course, and it was all online, which was super convenient. The course was led by a team of experts, and they were pretty well-known in the Family Constellations field. I was nervous to begin, I have never tried something like this before. The course started with some video lessons explaining the basics of Family Constellations and how it all works. They talked about how our family history and unresolved issues from past generations can affect us, even if we don’t realize it. It was all pretty mind-blowing, to be honest.
The Actual Practice
Then, we started getting into the practical stuff. We had online sessions where we would do these “constellation” exercises. So, there’s this facilitator, kind of like a guide, who helps you set up a “constellation” of your family. Instead of using real people, though, you use objects or even just visualize the family members in your mind.
I started with a simple exercise, focusing on my relationship with my parents. I placed objects to represent my mom, my dad, and myself in the room. It felt a little weird at first, but I just went with it. Then, the facilitator asked me questions about how I felt and what I noticed about the arrangement. It was like unlocking a hidden door in my mind. I started seeing patterns and feelings that I hadn’t been aware of before. It was intense, but in a good way.
Over the next few weeks, I worked on different constellations, exploring various aspects of my family history. It was a bit of an emotional rollercoaster. Some sessions were really tough, bringing up old hurts and unresolved issues. But after each session, I felt a sense of release, like I was shedding old baggage that I didn’t even know I was carrying.
- Emotional: It was really emotional, I felt sad and relieved at the same time.
- Insightful: I learned so much about myself and my family, it’s like a fog started to clear.
- Empowering: It made me feel more in control of my life, like I could finally break free from old patterns.
One of the most impactful constellations I did was about my relationship with my siblings. I always felt like there was some unspoken tension between us, but I couldn’t put my finger on it. Through the constellation exercise, I realized that there were some inherited family dynamics at play, going back to my grandparents. It was like a lightbulb moment! I realized that I had been carrying those dynamics with me all the time.
After that, I started having more open and honest conversations with my siblings. It wasn’t easy, but it definitely improved our relationship. We’re still working on it, but it’s like a weight has been lifted off our shoulders. We started to support each other and not let those dynamics control us.
The course also taught me how to use Family Constellations to help others. I’m not a therapist or anything, but I’ve been able to use the techniques with friends and family members who are going through tough times. It’s been really rewarding to see how it’s helped them gain insights and find some peace.
So, yeah, that’s my experience with Family Constellations. It’s not a magic cure-all, but it’s definitely a powerful tool for personal growth and healing. It’s helped me understand myself and my family on a deeper level, and it’s given me the tools to break free from old patterns that were holding me back. If you’re feeling stuck or like you’re carrying some heavy baggage from your family history, I’d definitely recommend checking it out. It might just change your life, like it did for me. Also, I feel a lot better now, more free. I am not carrying that weight anymore.
