Okay, so I tried out this Mabon Tarot spread thing, and let me tell you, it was quite the experience! I’ve always been curious about Tarot, but never really dived deep. With Mabon coming up, I figured, why not give it a shot?
I didn’t really know where to start, so I did what anyone would do – I searched online and stumbled upon a few different spreads. One caught my eye, a simple four-card spread. It’s supposed to help you reflect on what you’re grateful for this season. Sounded pretty chill and right up my alley. It also can increase to five for more detail which I thought was cool.

I set up my little space, lit a candle, and got my cards ready. Shuffled them while trying to focus on, well, nothing specific, just being in the moment. Then, I laid out the cards according to the spread I found.
- Card 1: What should I let go of?
- Card 2: What should I embrace?
- Card 3: What am I grateful for right now?
- Card 4: What will the next season bring?
- Card 5: What should I focus my energy on?
The first card I flipped was about letting go. Honestly, it hit harder than I expected. It was a card that, to me, screamed “release that baggage!” And boy, do I have baggage. I sat there for a while just thinking about all the things, big and small, I needed to just drop.
Then came the card about what to embrace. It was a gentler card, suggesting I needed more self-love and acceptance in my life. Which, yeah, who doesn’t? But seeing it there, as a card, made it feel more… real, I guess.
The third one, about gratitude, was a nice shift. It made me stop and actually think about all the good stuff I’ve got going on. Sometimes, you get so caught up in the day-to-day that you forget to appreciate the little things. This card was a good reminder of that.
And the last card? It was about what the next season holds. It was kind of mysterious, but in an exciting way. Like, the future’s a big question mark, but that’s not a bad thing. It’s full of possibilities.
At last I chose to try the last card as well, the fifth card was about where I should focus my energy on. This card was a little bit serious but made me realize I was on the right track.

After I finished the spread, I just sat there, taking it all in. It wasn’t like a lightbulb moment or anything, but it felt… clarifying. Like I had a better sense of what I needed to work on and what I should be thankful for.
I wrote down my thoughts in my journal, just to get it all out. I think I’ll make this a regular thing, maybe not every day, but at least for the changing seasons. It’s a nice way to check in with yourself and see where you’re at.
So, yeah, that’s my little Tarot adventure. If you’re thinking about trying it, I’d say go for it. It’s a cool way to get some perspective and maybe learn a thing or two about yourself along the way.
