Alright, so I’ve been digging into this whole USS Constellation thing lately, specifically the crew list for CV 64. You know, it’s one of those rabbit holes you fall into, and suddenly you’re knee-deep in naval history. Started off simple enough, just wanted to see if I could find a list of the guys who served on this beast of a ship.
First, I went through the usual channels, you know, the basic web searches. Typed in “USS Constellation CV 64 crew list” and bam, a bunch of results popped up. There is some info, but nothing I can really use, so I decided to dig deeper.

So, I started sifting through these websites. Some are dedicated to veterans, others are more like historical archives. Found a few that mentioned the USS Constellation CV/CVA-64 Association. Sounds promising, right? They are a non-profit, and you can join if you were part of the crew or air group. This could be the jackpot!
Then I stumbled upon this site called HullNumber. Seems like it’s trying to be a hub for sailors to reconnect. They’ve got a section for the Constellation, with mentions of a crew roster. Got a bit excited there, not gonna lie. I found some names like “Rodriguez, Evan L., ET3, 2002-2003” and “Kaelin, Christopher, AN/AS3, 2002-2003” on one of those sites. It’s a start, but not exactly what I was hoping for.
But here’s the kicker, there is little info of crew details. Most of these sites, they’re more about sharing stories, photos, and reunion info. Which is cool, don’t get me wrong, but it wasn’t helping me build this crew list I was envisioning.
So, I started getting a bit creative. I looked into those sites for any mention of specific names or dates. Found a mention of a “Richard Swain” and some dates in August. Might be something, might be nothing. It’s like trying to piece together a puzzle with half the pieces missing.
After a few days, I realized this is going to be a long-term project. It’s not like there’s a single, comprehensive list just sitting out there waiting to be found. It’s more about collecting bits and pieces from various sources and trying to build something coherent.
My current plan:

- Keep an eye on those association websites. Maybe they’ll eventually post more detailed records.
- Try to contact some of these veterans directly. If I can find them, they might have some info or point me in the right direction.
- Dig into more historical archives. There has to be some official Navy records somewhere, right?
Conclusion
It’s a bit of a mess right now, but I’m not giving up. This whole USS Constellation crew list project has become a bit of an obsession. It’s like a historical treasure hunt, and I’m determined to find the treasure, even if it takes me a while. I’ll keep you guys posted on my progress. Wish me luck!
