Okay, so today I decided to dive into the “Sota de Bastos” card from my tarot deck. I’ve been meaning to really get to know each card individually, and this one felt like a good place to start.
First, I grabbed my favorite tarot deck, the one my grandma gave me. It’s a bit worn, but I love the feel of the cards. I shuffled them a few times, just getting a feel for the energy, and then I pulled the Sota de Bastos (that’s the Page of Wands, for those not familiar with the Spanish names).

I laid the card out on my desk. I just stared at it for a good five minutes. I mean, really looked at it – the colors, the young figure, the staff he’s holding, the landscape in the background. It’s a pretty vibrant card, all yellows and oranges.
Getting to Know the Card
Next, I grabbed my notebook and started jotting down some initial impressions. Words like “energy,” “enthusiasm,” “new beginnings,” and “adventure” popped into my head. I also wrote down some questions that the card sparked, like “What new opportunities are coming my way?” and “What am I excited to start?”
- First impressions: Energy, youth, potential.
- Visual details: The fiery colors, the staff, the desert-like landscape.
- Questions: What new projects am I ready for?
Then I did a little research. I usually check a few different tarot books and websites, just to see what the common interpretations are. I found that most sources agree that this card represents a spark of creativity, a new passion, or the beginning of a journey.
After that, it was all about connecting it to my own life. I spent some time thinking about what’s been going on lately, and where I might be feeling that “Sota de Bastos” energy. I realized I’ve been itching to start a new creative project – maybe learn how to play the ukulele! – and this card felt like a little nudge of encouragement.
Finally, I wrote a short journal entry, summarizing my thoughts and feelings about the card. I made a note to keep an eye out for opportunities related to this card’s energy in the coming days. And I put the card back in my deck, feeling like I’d made a new friend.
It just a good experince for me and I record it.
