Okay, so I’ve been seeing these zodiac constellation necklaces everywhere and I finally caved. I wanted to make my own, you know, put my own little spin on it. I’m a Libra, so obviously, I’m making a Libra one. Here’s how the whole thing went down.
Gathering My Supplies
First things first, I needed to get all my stuff together. I already had some basic jewelry-making tools, like pliers and wire cutters. Here’s what else I grabbed:

- Delicate chain: I went with a gold-filled one because it’s nicer than just plated, but not as pricey as solid gold.
- Tiny star charms: I found these cute little gold ones.
- A jump ring: This is to connect the chain to the, well, constellation part.
- Wire: I chose some thin, gold-colored wire that was still sturdy enough to hold its shape.
Figuring Out the Design
This was the trickiest part! I looked up a bunch of Libra constellation images online. It’s basically a set of scales, right? So it’s not super complicated, but I still wanted it to look… intentional. I played around with the star charms on my table, arranging them until it sort of looked like the constellation.
Putting it All Together
I started by carefully bending the wire to create a very, very simplified version of the Libra scales. I used my pliers to make little loops at the points where I wanted to attach the stars.
Next, I used the tiny jump rings to attach the star charms to the wire loops. I made sure they were securely closed so nothing would fall off. This was a little fiddly, ngl.
Once the constellation part was done, I measured out the chain to the length I wanted. I attached one end of the chain to the jump ring, and then added a clasp to the other end of the chain so I could actually wear it!
The Finished Product!
And that’s it! Honestly, it turned out way better than I expected. It’s delicate and pretty, and it actually looks like the Libra constellation, which is a win. It’s got that handmade vibe, which I love. Plus, every time I look at it, I’ll remember the fun I had making it. I’m already thinking about making some for my friends, maybe for their birthdays. Different constellations, of course!
