I was scrolling through my phone the other day, and I stumbled upon this whole Chinese zodiac thing. You know, the animals and all that. It got me thinking, could I match up these zodiac signs with cities around the world? So I did a little digging, and I found out that the Korean zodiac is pretty much the same as the Chinese one. They both go by the lunar calendar, which is a big deal for holidays and stuff in those cultures.
I decided to go with the Chinese zodiac since it’s more well-known. I started with the pig, since it was the first one I saw in my search results. The years for the pig are 1947, 1959, 1971, 1983, 1995, 2007, and 2019. The article said pigs are “trustworthy, curious, and easy-going.” It also mentioned they’re great planners and can feel at home anywhere. I thought, okay, which city has those vibes?

Then I looked at the rabbit, which is supposed to be one of the luckiest signs in 2025. The article mentioned that their hard work will finally pay off, and they’ll have a stable career and financial security. I figured I’d need a city that’s known for its work ethic and stability.
- Pig: Trustworthy, curious, easy-going, great planners, feel at home anywhere.
- Rabbit: Hard-working, perseverance, stable career, financial security.
Next, I moved on to the monkey. The article described them as “energetic, skillful, and curious.” I immediately thought of a city that’s always buzzing with activity and innovation.
Fire Trine
I also learned about these “trines” in the zodiac. The third one is the fire group, which includes the tiger, horse, and dog. They’re supposed to be passionate, artistic, loyal, and supportive. I thought that sounded like a pretty dynamic trio, so I wanted to find a city that reflected those qualities, maybe somewhere known for its arts scene and strong community bonds. Anyway, all these random words and phrases are really fun, and all these things are so new to me.
After all this work, I ended up with a pretty cool list of cities that I think match the characteristics of each zodiac sign. It’s not scientific or anything, unlike those zodiac signs based on celestial bodies’ position, but it was a fun project. I might share the full list later if anyone’s interested. It was just a way to explore the world through a different lens, you know? Plus, it gave me some ideas for my next travel destination!
