Well, hello there! Let me tell you a thing or two about this zodiac Chinese calendar thing. I don’t know much about fancy stuff, but I know a bit about this. It’s all about animals, you see, and the year you were born.
Now, they say it ain’t the same as our regular calendar, the one with January and February and all that. This Chinese calendar, it’s got its own way of doin’ things, somethin’ about the moon, I reckon. Lunar calendar, they call it. Confuses the heck outta me sometimes, but that’s how it is. ‘Cause, you know, the Chinese New Year, it moves around, ain’t always on the same day. So, your birthday on the regular calendar might not be the same on this Chinese one.

Anyways, there are twelve of these animals, and each one gets a whole year. They go like this: Rat, then the Ox, then a big ol’ Tiger. After that, it’s the Rabbit, then a fancy Dragon, and a sneaky Snake. Then comes the Horse, the Goat, a jumpy Monkey, a Rooster that crows all day, a loyal Dog, and last but not least, a Pig. Each one’s got its own personality, just like us folks, I guess.
- Rat: Them rats, they’re smart and quick, always figuring things out. They’re friendly too, always lookin’ out for others.
- Ox: Now, the Ox, he’s strong and steady. You can always count on an Ox to get the job done, no matter how hard it is.
- Tiger: Tigers, they’re brave and bold. They ain’t afraid of nothin’, and they always stand up for what they believe in.
- Rabbit: Oh, the Rabbit, they’re the lucky ones, they say. Smart and sweet, but a bit shy. They like things peaceful, no fuss.
- Dragon: Dragons are powerful and important. They’re full of energy and always up for a challenge.
- Snake: Snakes, they’re wise and mysterious. They think things through and always have a plan.
- Horse: Horses are free spirits. They love to run and play and explore new places.
- Goat: Goats are gentle and kind. They’re always there to lend a helping hand.
- Monkey: Monkeys are playful and clever. They love to have fun and make people laugh.
- Rooster: Roosters are proud and confident. They’re always the first to wake up and get things going.
- Dog: Dogs are loyal and true. They’re always there for their friends and family.
- Pig: And finally, the Pig. Pigs are kind and generous. They enjoy the good things in life.
So, how do you know which one you are? Well, it all depends on the year you were born. Like, if you were born in 1972, 1984, 1996, 2008, or 2020, then you’re a Rat. See? If you popped out in 1973, 1985, 1997, 2009, or 2021, you’re an Ox. And so on, and so forth. It goes on like that for all the animals. 1974, 1986, 1998, 2010, 2022, that’s the Tiger. And the lucky Rabbit? That’s 1975, 1987, 1999, and 2011.
Each animal, it’s got its good points and bad points, just like people. Some are lucky, some are hard workers, some are a bit more tricky. But that’s what makes life interesting, right? This whole Chinese zodiac calendar thing, it’s just another way of lookin’ at things, tryin’ to understand ourselves and the world around us. I don’t know if it’s all true, but it’s fun to think about, ain’t it? And it gives you somethin’ to talk about with your neighbors when you’re sittin’ on the porch, sippin’ iced tea.
Now, don’t go askin’ me too many fancy questions about it, ‘cause I ain’t no expert. I just know what I heard from my grandma, and she heard it from her grandma, and so on. It’s been passed down for generations, this old calendar thing. And that’s good enough for me. Just remember, it’s all about the animals and the year you were born. Find your animal, and see what it says about you. It might just surprise you.
