So, I got my hands on these Alchemy 1977 England tarot cards the other day, and let me tell you, it was quite the experience getting them set up and diving into a reading.
First off, I found these cards online. Everyone’s been going on about how cool and gothic the artwork is supposed to be, and, well, I’m a sucker for anything with a dark, mysterious vibe. The brand, Alchemy 1977, apparently has a reputation for this kind of stuff. So I ordered them, waited a few days – you know how it is with shipping – and finally, they arrived.

I ripped open the package like a kid on Christmas morning. The box itself was pretty neat, all dark and hinting at the designs inside. When I opened it, man, the cards were something else. Really dark, gothic imagery, just like people said. Lots of skulls, and, uh, other spooky stuff. I am into that kind of thing.
Unboxing and First Impressions
- Visuals: The artwork is definitely the selling point here. Super detailed, very dark and gothic.
- Feel: The cards felt okay in my hands. Not super high-end, but not cheap either.
- Overall: I was pretty hyped to start using them. They looked like they held some serious secrets.
Now, I’ve dabbled in tarot readings before, but I’m no expert. I got a 78-card deck and started shuffling. It took a while to get used to these cards because the pictures were so intense. Each card seemed to tell its own little story. I spent a good hour just looking at them, trying to get a feel for their vibe. Then spread them out on my table.
I did a simple three-card reading for myself – past, present, and future. I concentrated on a question that had been bugging me, then I chose the cards. The past card was The Lovers, in reverse… which, yeah, I guess made sense given some past relationship drama I’ve had. The present card was The Devil, which felt a bit ominous. And the future card? The Hanged Man, which I’m still trying to figure out. It suggests a need for sacrifice or a new perspective. Hmm.
First Reading and Thoughts
- Shuffle and Draw: Shuffling was smooth, drawing was exciting.
- Interpretation: The cards I drew were pretty intense. Definitely gave me a lot to think about.
- Accuracy: Hard to say this early on, but some of it resonated with my current situation.
I ended up putting the cards away for the night. It was a lot to take in. I’ll probably try another reading in a few days, maybe a more complex spread this time. Overall, these Alchemy 1977 cards are pretty cool. They’re definitely not your average tarot deck, and they’ve got a unique energy to them. I’m excited to keep practicing with them and see what other insights they might reveal. I’m keeping these for sure.
