Okay, so I’ve been getting into tarot lately, and I stumbled upon this thing called the “anchor card” method. It sounded pretty cool, so I decided to give it a shot today. I grabbed my deck, shuffled it really well, thinking about what I wanted some clarity on – you know, just general life stuff.
Then, I laid out the cards in, like, a cross shape. I Think it looks more friendly.

The way I understand it, the anchor card is supposed to represent the core issue or the heart of the matter.
- First try, I dealt out five cards
I pulled the cards, laid them out, and stared at them for a good few minutes. I used this one website to help look up the meanings, since I’m still a newbie at this.
I am going to write down the explaination for all cards.
The anchor card, it was The Lovers, but I don’t think I quite understand them, so I am going to try again.
- Second try, I dealt out five cards
I pulled the cards, laid them out, and stared at them for a good few minutes again.

This time the anchor card was the Tower.
It took some connecting the dots, but it did make me think about some things I’ve been avoiding.
My takeaway?
The anchor card thing is a pretty neat way to focus a reading. It’s not like it gave me all the answers, but it definitely gave me a starting point to, like, untangle my thoughts. I’ll probably try this again when I’m feeling a little lost or just need a different perspective on things. It’s a good way to get the brain juices flowing, even if you’re not totally sure about the whole tarot thing.
