Okay, here’s my experience diving into the world of new tarot decks for 2023:
So, I’ve been getting really into tarot lately. Not in a super-serious, mystical way, but more like, I find it’s a cool tool for self-reflection. You know, prompting some interesting thoughts and maybe seeing things from a different angle. Anyway, I figured it was time to upgrade my old, kinda basic deck, So, I spent the whole day to find and try some new decks in 2023.

The Hunt Begins
First, I needed to Get a general idea of the new tarot. I searched “best new tarot decks 2023” on Google, and I was immediately overwhelmed. There are SO many decks out there! It’s crazy. Modern, traditional, artistic, minimalist… you name it, it exists.
Narrowing It Down
I realized I needed some criteria, so I Started to think:
- Vibes: Did I want something dark and mysterious? Light and whimsical? Something in between?
- Artwork: Was I drawn to detailed illustrations, or something more abstract?
- Reviews: What were other people saying about the deck’s readability and overall quality?
Try to Pick One
Based on those, I did the second search. I spent, like, a solid hour just browsing images. I finally picked three or four decks on that list and ordered those caught my eye. One had these gorgeous, watercolor-style paintings. Another was super minimalist, with just simple line drawings. I read a bunch of reviews and tried to see which tarot is popular for this year. I chose the top 3 popular ones.
Real Talk & Feeling
The best new tarot of 2023 in my mind is the one that I have to keep using it and feeling the conection. Once I got them,I did some simple readings with each one, just to get a feel for the imagery and how easy it was to interpret. It might sound silly.
Ultimately,I chose one and kept using it every week, it feels good!
