Okay, so today I decided to do a “birthday spread” tarot reading for myself. I’ve been feeling a little introspective lately, and with my birthday coming up, it seemed like a good time to check in with the cards and see what the next year might hold.
First, I grabbed my favorite tarot deck – the one I’ve had for years and feel really connected to. I lit a few candles, put on some chill music, and took a few deep breaths to get myself centered and in the right headspace. I mean, you gotta set the mood, right?

The Spread
I chose a 12-card spread, where each card represents a different month of the upcoming year. I always find that kind of clear, and simple way to view the layout. After all, it’s easy to get lost. I’m not an expert. It’s just fun.
- Card 1: This one is about the overall theme of the year.
- Cards 2-12: Each of these represents a specific month, starting with my birthday month.
I shuffled the deck really well, focused on the year ahead, and laid out the cards in a circle. I like that the cards is a visual, It feels… complete, like a full cycle.
My Reading
I won’t bore you with every single detail, but I can share a few highlights:
- The overall theme card was The Sun. Super positive! It’s all about joy, success, and good vibes. I’m taking that as a good sign!
- A couple of months looked a little challenging – I got the Five of Swords for one, which can indicate conflict or tension. I have got to remember to choose my battles wisely and don’t let the small stuff get me down.
- But then, other months looked amazing! The Lovers showed up for one, which could mean a new relationship or deepening an existing one.
I interpret it, means any kind of relationship, including the relationship with myself.
After laying out all the cards, I spent some time just looking at them, thinking about what they might mean, and jotting down some notes in my journal. It’s all about intuition, you know? What does the card feel like it’s saying to me?
Wrapping Up
Overall, I felt good after the reading. It gave me some things to think about for the year ahead, some potential challenges to be aware of, and some exciting possibilities to look forward to. It’s not about predicting the future, but more about getting a little guidance and perspective. I love tarot, it helps me organize my thought. I will keep my eyes on them in the comming year!

I highly recommend trying a birthday spread if you’re into tarot! It’s a fun way to reflect and set some intentions for your next trip around the sun.
