Okay, so I wanted to make a Chinese Zodiac calendar for 2013, the Year of the Snake. I’ve always been fascinated by the Chinese Zodiac, and I thought it would be a fun little project to put one together myself.
First, I gathered some information. I needed to know the start and end dates for the 2013 lunar year. I’m no expert, just use some search engines, you know, the usual. I found out the Year of the Snake started on February 10, 2013, and ended on January 30, 2014. Good, that’s the base.

Getting the Data Together
Then, I needed to map out all the dates. I wasn’t about to do this by hand, oh no. I grabbed a regular calendar for 2013 and started marking down the lunar dates alongside the Gregorian dates.I just find a simple online tools to help finish.
- I started on February 10, 2013, marking that as the first day of the lunar year.
- Then I figured out each subsequent new moon to mark the start of each lunar month. Some free online tools helped a lot.
- I just slowly and carefully marked a normal 2013 calendar days.
It was a bit tedious, but I kept at it, cross-referencing a few different sources to make sure I wasn’t messing up too badly. There are so many websites and blogs with bits and pieces of info, so I really had to keep my focus.
Design Time
After all data got, I tried make it looks nicer.I just use some free online canva * simple, and not need to learn anything.
Finally, I had my own, handmade (well, digitally handmade) Chinese Zodiac calendar for 2013. It’s not perfect, but it’s mine, and I learned a lot in the process. I even printed out a copy and stuck it on my fridge!
