Okay, so I wanted to make a Chinese zodiac calendar for 2011, the Year of the Rabbit. I’ve always been kinda fascinated by the zodiac, and I figured it would be a fun little project.
First, I dug around online to get the exact dates. You know, gotta make sure I get the Lunar New Year right. It’s not just January 1st! I found some websites that listed the dates and stuff.

Getting Started
I decided to make it by hand, a physical calendar. I am a handcraft lover, so I like DIY. I thought about just printing something out, but where’s the fun in that? Plus, I had some nice paper and art supplies lying around.
The Process
- I grabbed a big sheet of thick paper, the kind that feels good to draw on.
- Then I lightly sketched out a grid with pencil – 12 boxes for the months, and smaller boxes inside for the days. Took a bit of measuring to get it all even.
- I wrote in the months, starting with February (since that’s when the Lunar New Year was in 2011).
- I double-checked,triple-checked those dates. I was a little unsure.
Adding the Zodiac
Now for the fun part! I drew a little rabbit in each month’s box. Nothing fancy, just a simple outline. I’m no artist, but I think they turned out okay. I used a black marker to make them stand out.
I considered add colors, Finally I gave up,I perfer simple style.
Finishing Touches
After the rabbits were in, I went over the grid lines with a darker pen, to make them neater. I added some small decorations, like little flowers and stuff, just to make it look a bit prettier.
And that’s it! My very own, handmade 2011 Chinese zodiac calendar. It’s not perfect, but I made it, and that’s what matters. It’s now hanging on my wall, a little reminder of the Year of the Rabbit and my little crafting adventure.
